The description of the new genus Podanychroma by the entomologists Vives, Bentanachs & Chew in their paper Notes sur les Callichromatini asiatiques - I: Nouveaux genres et especes de Callichromatini du sud-est asiatique (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Callichromatini) has led to a change in the nomenclature of Chelidonium monticola HUDEPOHL 1989. Now it is known as Podanychroma monticola HUDEPOHL 1989 comb. nov..
Karl Hudepohl described this species from the Mountain Province in Luzon where it was the only known distribution area for a decade. In 2004, I was able to collect a few specimens in Bukidnon, Mindanao thereby expanding its range. I am certain that if diligent collection will be done in the higher elevations (3,000 feet above) of major islands in the country, especially in Leyte and Samar, similar species can be found.
