I got information from Eduard Vives that the longhorn beetle I labeled as a Cereopsius sp. is a new species but belongs to the genus Blepephaeus. He is currently working on the paper on additional new Philippine longhorn beetles that will later on be published.
This longhorn beetle was collected in Bukidnon, Mindanao. What’s remarkable about this one is that the male’s reddish antennae are really long, more than twice the body length, a rather unique character compared with other Blepephaeus sp. The said antenna also beautifully contrasts with its jet black body with vivid yellow spots. In the photo is a female (left) and male (right) of the species.
