Tips Before Buying a Bathroom Vanity Lamp

Bathroom vanity table lamps are often overlooked in the bathroom. Artificial light from bathroom dressing table lamps and general lighting is important for hours when natural light is not available. Without good lighting, the decor and personality of your bathroom cannot be developed properly. And because the day usually begins and ends with a trip to the bathroom, the time spent there must be comfortable, relaxed, and easily seen during treatment.

Bathroom vanity lights usually include one lamp or maybe two or more above the mirror. Or, there may be lamps or sconces on each side of the mirror or medicine cabinet and one ceiling light or a row of recessed ceiling lights on the dressing table, depending on the size of your dressing table and mirror. Make sure your bathroom mirror is illuminated evenly and free of shadows because this is where makeup, shaving, and other maintenance activities will be carried out. If you have two bathroom vanities, each must have the same bathroom vanity settings.

You must have ambient lighting and task lighting in the bathroom. Here are the types of lighting to provide artificial bathroom light:

o Ambient Lighting – hanging lamps, surface mounted bathroom lamps, wall sconces and recessed fixtures are a type of general lighting that illuminates the entire bathroom area. This type of lighting allows you to move and see safely indoors. This type of bathroom lighting fixtures must be controlled by a dimmer where you can change the intensity of the light to feel relaxed when you soak in the bathtub, for example. General ambient lighting gives your bathroom the brightest light, but will produce more light than other types of bathroom lights.

o Task Lighting – is a beam of direct light that illuminates a particular area with tasks that are very specific to the job, not intended to illuminate the entire room. Task lighting can be in the form of light directed at the reading area while in the tub, when shaving, reading, exercising on a treadmill, putting on makeup or inserting your contact lenses. This can be activated only when you need it. Use wall sconces on both sides of the mirror or medicine cabinet as bathroom dressing lights so that you benefit from lighting from both sides.

o Accent Lighting – this type of bathroom lighting fixtures is intended to create visual drama and a certain atmosphere in the bathroom, and they provide focus on specific room details for decorative touches. Consider using track lighting to highlight decorative items or to provide a relaxing environment that you will enjoy when you soak in a bathtub.

o Decorative Lighting – these are lighting fixtures that draw attention to themselves as objects and are used to create effects. Chandeliers, candles (traditional and electric), fireplaces, candles and low-voltage pendant fixtures are examples of decorative lighting.

Always choose a light bulb for a bathroom dressing table lamp that provides light in the natural light spectrum. Lights that are mostly yellow or white will not show you how you will look outside the bathroom, which makes makeup more difficult.

You must have many choices for your bathroom dressing lights. Just like a luxurious bathing is a great way to start or end the day, lighting in your bathroom should give you a warm and comfortable feeling when you want. And when you need to look while caring or shaving, bathroom lights and bathroom makeup lights should make it easy to see.

If you feel unsure about continuing, consider consulting with a lighting designer to help you create the best lighting for your home. Read and learn as much as possible about bathroom makeup lamps and home lighting. Good planning, design, and implementation of lighting will give you a pleasant, practical and dramatic effect for your bathroom and home in general.
